outfits used to be purely visual, until a change allowed them to increase attack, heal, and player XP collection.
You do not need to be using the outfit for its effect to be applied, just have it unlocked in your wardrobe.
Different rarities of outfits give different bonuses.

There are currently 90 hero outfits and 60 gun outfits (1 per each rarity per gun)
with a max bonus from unlocking all the costumes being +1295 health, +976 health, and +47% Player XP
All outfits below mythical rarity can be unlocked with buttons:

Most mythical outfits are unlocked through the holiday special outfit crates with a few exceptions:
- Evil Clone (Mr Autofire) unlocked after beating the evil clone that spawns in floor 200 of the dark castle
- Pixel: (Mr Autofire) unlocked after beating world 27 Pixel Realm and collecting the cleared room 30 rewards chest
- Mr Mullet: (Mr Autofire) unlocked after purchasing the exclusive offer from the shop for $2.99 USD (also comes with 1500 gems)
- Necro King: (Orion Gale) Unlocked after beating world 39 Zombie Dump and collecting the cleared room 30 rewards chest (Named after the beloved long time player Lich King)
- Overkill: (Jack-Bot) Unlocked after reaching player level 80 (Named after the first player to ever reach level 80 Overkill)
