There are two mechanisms to make a particular hero stronger:
- Increase the hero’s level
-
For levels 1-9, 10-19, 20-29 etc you are upgrading your hero and you will require of the same element as the hero (or Rainbow Crystals) and Coins.
-
For levels 9-10, 19-20, 29-30 etc you are promoting your hero and you will require Hero Medals and coins. Level Promotions unlock bonuses - either for all-heroes (at level 20 and 50) or only for the promoted hero (all other promotions)
-
In either case, your hero level is capped by your Player level.
-
After you have your primary hero (heroes) at your desired level, begin leveling all of your heroes to Level 20. This will provide a bonus to ALL of your heroes.
- Star up the hero
-
Once you get more Hero Shards you can Star Up your hero. You can use Rainbow Hero Shards if you have them to cover up a shortfall.
-
This will immediately boost your Attack and Health stats, but the greater benefit comes when you learn Skills. This requires Rings. If Rings are a limiting factor, I would recommend spending your rings first on opening each hero’s first skill. This will cost 5 rings. Next start completing the skill tree for the Hero (Heroes) you use most.
Note: I would not recommend spending rewards on Rings in the Tower or Guild Shops. Use those rewards to unlock heroes. At first Rings will be scarce, but after you obtain your first 5 Star Hero they will be much easier to obtain. Any time you receive shards from a 5 Star Hero, the shards will convert to 5 rings (and possibly Super Shards). I understand that obtaining a 5 Star Hero seems so far off on the future, but I regret having spent some rings in the beginning instead of unlocking/upgrading Heroes, so I’m including this here.
- Permanent Upgrades - These apply to all your heroes. They are costly (with Coins), but the boosts are worth it.
Tip: Shards can only be used towards that particular hero, so there’s no reason to not star up a hero if you have the shards.
