Recommended Priorities
Get the Gemini Laser
The Gemini Laser is currently the best all-around weapon in the game. It consistently outperforms free weapons, even at lower rarities. While other premium weapons like the Devastator can rival (or even outperform) it, they rely heavily on perks. Gemini is more dependable and effective across a wider range of scenarios.
Unlock Jackbot
Jackbot is a strong pick for farming, even if you’re not spending a lot. If you’re purchasing the Super Battle Pass, you can earn enough Recruitment Posters to unlock him in 1–2 seasons—making it cheaper than using Gems. Once unlocked, his shards become available from regular Hero Summons. Jackbot also has the rare ability to drop his own shards.
Unlock Premium Heroes
Premium Heroes are expensive to unlock with Gems, so plan carefully. Unless you’re spending heavily, prioritize heroes who are strong starting at 2 stars. Some heroes only shine at 5 stars and take significant investment to reach.
Note: Do not spend Gems on opening Hero Crates for free heroes. Obtain these shards through the Daily Hero Dungeons, Elemental Castles, and/or using free Hero Summon Keys.
- Example: Asteria is useful right away.
- Tower Heroes Tower heroes like Granny (Mrs. Surefire) and Sanguina may rival S-tier heroes. You can unlock them slowly for free or speed things up by using Gems on their hero crates. These heroes benefit from higher star levels and can be game changers.
- If you’re spending on items other than with Gems, you can also buy Hero Recruitment Shards or Rainbow Hero Shards to advance faster.
Open More Premium Equipment
Strategy - Avoid opening too many premium items early on. For example, after unlocking Gemini, focus on upgrading it before expanding your weapon pool. This increases your chances of pulling more Gemini shards and having them drop or be offered by the Merchant.
You can also try for early unlocks. Buying a crate of 11 is the best deal. Even without reaching the guaranteed Epic at 50 opens, you might get lucky and obtain the item (up to Epic rarity) on the first pull. The game now saves your progress to the guaranteed epic at 50 opens, so you no longer need to worry about having to start over the next time the crate comes around.
Pets
Celeste and Sir Squire are two strong Premium Pets that are worth unlocking. However, keep in mind that Premium Pets are expensive to unlock and require a similar level of investment as Premium Heroes. Be prepared to spend both Gems and other resources if you choose to pursue them.
Boogie is a free pet, but he’s not effective until 4 stars. To speed things up, consider spending Gems on opening Boogie crates.
Daily Uses for Gems
Daily Gun/Gear Dungeon Refreshes
Now that you can target specific weapons and gear you’ve already unlocked, refreshing these events is more worthwhile. If you don’t get both the uncommon and rare items on your first two runs, it may be worth using Gems to refresh. Although refreshing guarantees the items will drop, you won’t receive them if your character doesn’t survive long enough to clear the rooms.
Daily Hero Dungeon Refreshes
If you’re short on Castle Keys or farming medals and crystals, you can spend Gems to refresh for two extra runs daily. You also may need to refresh if the daily hero does not drop on the first two runs.
The Merchant
Need a specific piece of gear more quickly? The Merchant sells equipment for Gems.
- Before buying, I recommend the Haggler Perk to get the best rates:
- Common: 120 Gems
- Uncommon: 360 Gems
- Rare: (New to the shop) — This is currently offered at a higher than expected cost. According to the rates of the other two, the price should 1080 Gems. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future.
Note: If you’re not in a rush, it’s better to wait for the Daily Equipment Dungeon or wait for the item to drop during runs. A recent update now allows you to choose your item in the dailies, which has made progressing equipment much faster.
If You’re Spending Money
Buying Energy
Buying energy is usually not recommended because of its high gem cost. However, if you’re farming heavily and have already used your free ad refreshes, purchasing additional energy can speed up your progress by helping you gather gear, XP, coins, and other resources. For some P2P players, this trade-off may be worth it. Buying more energy can also improve your ranking in events, such as Tower by allowing more runs.
Generally not recommended due to the high cost, but if you’re farming intensively and have already used your ad refreshes, purchasing more energy can help you collect gear, XP, coins, and other resources, which may justify the cost for some P2P players.
Titan Re-rolls
Only consider spending Gems here if your guild requires close to perfect runs or you’re aiming for a perfect score. Otherwise, ignore your pride and save your Gems!
