Earning coins in Runs

For runs in which coins drop, there is a predefined range of coins that can drop in each room.

For campaigns and castles, which are the main source of earning coins, it is as follows:

World Min Coins/room Max Coins/room Mean Coins/Run
1 18 22 540
2 24 28 702
3 86 105 859
4 34 42 1,026
5 40 49 1,201
6 45 55 1,350
7 51 62 1,525
8 169 206 1,687
9 89 108 2,659
10 99 121 2,970
11 110 134 3,294
12 115 140 3,442
13 119 145 3,564
14 119 145 3,564
15 390 467 3,856
Castles 99 121 1,980

Notes

  • Worlds 3 and 8 have 9 coin earning rooms (12 in total less 3 angel rooms); all other Worlds have 27 earning rooms and Castles have 18 earning rooms
  • Because the coin drops are calculated per room there is no dependency on the number of enemies in a room, and you don’t earn more coins for more kills (e.g. allowing an enemy to spawn additional enemies before killing it)

The nominal coin drops in a room are increased by the Bean Counter permanent upgrade and Metal Detector (if equipped) as follows:

Actual Coins = Nominal Coins * (1 + BeanCounter%/100 + MetalDetecter%/100)

A few examples of this calculation are shown below:

BC 10(20%) BC 12(24%) BC 15 (30%)
Epic MD (27%) 47 % 51 % 57 %
Legendary MD (35%) 55 % 59 % 65 %
Mythical MD (43.5%) 63.5 % 67.5 % 73.5 %

If you get the Hoarder perk, the coins earned are boosted by a further 15% (only for rooms after you get Hoarder)

Coins with Hoarder = Coins without Hoarder * 1.15

To illustrate this with numbers from a run, Castle Rooms have a coin range from 99 to 121
With the Mythical Metal Detector (+43.5 %) and Level 15 Bean Counter (+30%) the range increases by 73.5%, so the range is 99 * 1.735 to 121 * 1.735, or 171 to 209

With Hoarder, the range increases by another 15%, or 196 to 240

In addition to this,

  • if you are running Jackbot, you earn some coins on each proc - this is not shown in the count at the top right when you clear the room, but will be included at the start of the next room
  • You can earn coins from Hidden crates. If it is in the starting room, the count is included in your total at the top right; if you get it in an angel room the count temporarily increases while in the angel room but is removed at the start of the next room (it will be shown separately in the loot screen though)
  • Some heroes have a small coin boost in their skill tree - as it is so small I’ve never used the skill (have chosen the other path) so I’ve not tested exactly how the math works, but I suspect it is added in the formula with the Metal Detector and Bean Counter

Finally, the total coins you have obtained in the course of the run is boosted at the end of the run by

  • Battle Pass / SBP bonuses = +10% (for purchasing pass), +15%, +30%, +45% or +65% depending on stages unlocked
  • Last World Bonus of +50% if you are
    • playing your last unlocked campaign world (even if you have already completed it)
    • playing the Tower Tournament, but only if you have completed all campaign worlds
  • Additional +20% bonus during coin collection events
  • Additional +100% or +200% Bonus on Player Appreciation Days

Note that all the percentages are added together before applying, so for a player getting +50% on their last world, the boost in a “Double Coins” PAD will increase to +150%, which is not actually double

For example,

  • if earned coins were 1000 before the 50% bonus, with the 50% it will be 1,500
  • With double coins you’d expect to make 3,000 but you won’t
  • Instead you get a 150% bonus, which works out at 2,500 (so your net gain is only 66%)

It’s even worse for a player with the SBP bonuses, where you go from +115% (x2.15) to +215% (x3.15), a net gain of only 46%
