The following is based on the current set of available heroes,
Summon gates featuring 1 Open hero with double chance
The double-chance means the featured hero has 2/16 chance of appearing while the other 14 have 1/16 each. Working with mean numbers,
- The average gate yields 2.75 shards;
- 10 shards requires 10/2.75 = 3.64 pulls where you get that hero;
- that requires 3.64 / (2/16) = 29.12 total pulls;
- however, you get 5 bonus shards after 25 pulls,
- in those 25 pulls you will get 25 * (2/16) * 2.75 = 8.59 shards
- So for 2 mega summons + 3 summons, you would expect to get 13 shards at an unlocking cost of 11,500 gems
Note:
- This is the mean cost - for some it will be cheaper, for some it will be more expensive; nevertheless the mean cost of 11,500 gems means this is only viable if you are willing to regularly invest real money in the game, or if you just enjoy the thrill of gambling away the gems you’ve farmed
- The gate count towards the bonus at 25 pulls currently resets each time the gate is offered, and even if you unlock the hero with fewer pulls the bonus shards are helpful for starring up the character, so it’s better to do this only if you have, and are willing to spend, the 11,500 gems - and then stop even if you don’t succeed and try to get the remaining shards by some other means
- This is based on starting from zero. If you already have shards acquired some other way (e.g. free weekly summon gates, login bonuses, BP/SBP, etc) the cost will likely be less, but I’d still suggest to do this only if you can spend the 11,500 gems to get the bonus shards
- You could also unlock the hero using Recruitment Posters, but considering their cost they are better deployed for Restricted (esp Jackbot) or Premium heroes. Also when you unlock by spending gems on summons you are also getting other loot in the form of shards for other heroes, as well as coins, crystals, hero medals, and rings.
Summon gates featuring 1 Restricted Hero without double chance
Without double-chance, the featured hero has 1/16 chance while the other 15 Open heroes also have 1/16 each.
- Requires 3.64 / (1/16) = 58.24 total pulls;
- however, you get 5 bonus shards after 25 pulls,
- in those 25 pulls you will get 25 * (1/16) * 2.75 = 4.29 shards
- If you are luckier than average you will be able to unlock for 2 mega summons + 3 summons (i.e. 11,500 gems). But probably you may need a few more so depending on your luck with the first 2 mega summons you might want to go for a 3rd one rather than trying singles.
Notes from the first section apply here; so especially in the case of Jackbot it’s useful to use recruitment posters to cover a shortfall.
Summon gates featuring 1 Premium Hero without double chance
*Previous version was based on 1/15 chance, but Sanguina was 1/16 because they included SIMO)
Without double-chance, the featured hero has 1/16 chance while the other 15 have 1/16 each.
- 60 shards requires 60/2.75 = 21.82 pulls featuring that hero
- That requires 21.82 / (1/16) = 349.1 total pulls;
- however, you get 5 bonus shards after 25 pulls,
- in those 25 pulls you will get 25 * (1/16) * 2.75 = 4.29 shards
- Working with 9.29 shards per 25 pulls, we’re looking at 161.5 pulls
- Mean unlocking cost would be over 73k gems if you are able to afford it all at once. If you do it in batches (2 mega summons + 3 summons) the cost would be higher.
- It’s also an option to get some of the shards from the Tower Shop (for high end players this is the only useful thing to spend Tower points on) and/or Recruitment Posters
