Focus Shots are one of the few perks that work on the net damage (i.e. the number you see displayed on the monster when the shot hits) rather than the Weapon-specific Base Damage
Hits get bonus (over what they’d normally do) as follows:

- 5%
- 9.5%
- 13.5%
- 17%
- 20%
…
This sequence makes more sense when we see how it’s generated:

Subsequent hits keep increasing by 0.5%
Few notes:
- Because it needs multiple hits to get a significant benefit, it works better for fast guns (Autogun, Looper) than slow (Plasma, Rifle)
- Note that any hit on any other enemy, even if indirect (e.g. piercing shot, chain shot, etc) resets the bonus, so it makes it a little less attractive when you have Piercing shots
- It’s more useful for lone bosses than when there’s several (e.g. 2 men in Vile Temple, 3 in Badlands) or when they spawn (e.g. Crawly boss and last boss in Vile Temple)
- This works nicely with Blazia’s Wrath: e.g. if Wrath is giving a 25% bonus and Focus Shots are giving 20%, then your total multiplier is 1.25 x 1.2 = 1.5 (most attack perks would stack this as 25% + 20% = 45%)
- Only weapon projectiles count for focus shots - Gemini’s Laser Link, Plasma’s blast, Devastator’s Trail, Shrapnel, elemental damage (Ice, Fire, Poison, Zap), Death damage (shrapnel, elemental, blast), Hero skills (Magic Bullets, Magic Bubble, Plague Cloud, Freeze, Iceplosion) remain unchanged.
